What is a Raid/Retrieval?
When the Kittyhawks visit another club it is called a
raid or retrieval. These terms go back to when a visiting club would steal the club caller's coat or shirt.
The callers are much relieved that each club now has a banner of some sort and those are passed out to the visiting clubs. If
the club we visit does not have one of our banners then we get to take one of their banners and this is called a Raid - If
they have one of our banners it is called a Retrieval.
To encourage Kittyhawks members to participate, there
are a series of incentives:
When you start attending Raids/Retrievals, *First 5 Raids/Retrievals
you attend, you get a Snoppy Badge *Every 20 you get a simulated diamond that mounts into the badge *Every 100 raids,
you get a dangle that goes onto your Kittyhawk name tag.
The Miami Valley Dance Council
honors you for every 100 raids/retrievals as an Honor Raider. This is a special Plaque with your
name provided by the Council and posted on the wall at the Michael Solomon Dance Pavilion.
